A-Gas Provides One of the First HCFC-22 Destruction Projects Using Approved Methodology

At a Glance

A-Gas and Wren partnered to launch one of the first HCFC-22 destruction projects, using approved ACR methodology. This initiative prevented the release of 16,000 tons of CO2-equivalent emissions by safely destroying ozone-depleting substances. Wren’s subscribers funded the project, highlighting the importance of lifecycle refrigerant management and transparency. Through this partnership, A-Gas and Wren have raised awareness about reducing harmful emissions, offering a sustainable solution to refrigerant disposal.

Challenges

  • Facilitate carbon projects with the greatest environmental impact.
  • Destroy ozone-depleting substances (ODS) at the end of their lifecycle (i.e. it can no longer be reclaimed or reprocessed for re-use).
  • Diversify carbon projects available to subscribers.
